The well-known catch phrase in Japan “First Asakusa, second Kanon, and last but not least is Sansada tempura shop”. Sansada, which was built in 1837, is the oldest tempura restaurant in Japan. The founder Sadakichi Mikawaya started selling fried little fish in front of his own house. The restaurant still keeps many traditional dishes and tries to keep the flavor how it was 170 years ago.
The most popular dish is Kakiage, which is a mixture of vegetables and other ingredients fried with batter. There are a number of people in other parts of Japan of the Kakiage. The costs vary from ¥1,385 tempura rice (Ten-Don) to ¥9,300 set meal. You can still enjoy the Edo-style tempura in this modern Japan.
The main building is a Japanese style Sukiya-Zukuri building, a new modern Japanese style building, and an annexes building which is built 4 years ago.
