Asakusa in downtown Tokyo is a temple town that prospered around Senso-ji Temple, the highest temple in Tokyo.
Speaking of Asakusa, it has prospered as a tourist destination representing Japan where history and modernity coexist, but the history of Asakusa has continued before the center of Japan moved from Kyoto to Edo.
The relationship between Asakusa and Edo began when Tokugawa Ieyasu was transferred to the Kanto region.
In the lecture, we will talk about how the temple town Asakusa will become one with the castle town Edo and transform into a big city.
