Events commemorating the completion of the roof of Sensoji Temple's Nakamise and the 140th anniversary of modern Nakamise have begun.
The Nakamise Shopping Street event will mark the completion of the Nakamise roof replacement project (March 2025) and the 140th anniversary of the birth of modern Nakamise, when the building was rebuilt from brick in December 1885.

Photographs of Nakamise from its inception as a modern street to the present day will be displayed on the side sign at the main Nakamise intersection.The exhibits are displayed in chronological order, starting from Kaminarimon, so we hope you will be able to get a sense of the 140-year history.

②Distribution of clear files commemorating the 140th anniversary of Modern Nakamise
We created a clear file with a design based on the panoramic view of Nakamise.We are also creating clear files with a similar design for the 130th anniversary, so you can enjoy the differences in the new roofs that were installed during the re-roofing work and the changes in the streetscape.
