108 members of the Yaokai group gather to strike the bell one by one atop Mt. Benten, made famous by the poem “Is the Bell in Ueno or Asakusa”. This Striking of the Bell festival has been going strong since 1951, reigning in the new year as people flood the streets of Nakamise.
