It became an annual event in Edo and became even more popular.It is a sight to see that samurai families and large merchants send their retainers and servants to carry protective baskets and long-sleeves, head to Asakusa in droves, buy things at the same stores every year, and on the way home, show off by visiting a restaurant. It seems that it was hailed as a privilege.After the Meiji period, New Year's supplies began to be purchased at regular stores, and the old market gradually faded away.Currently, emphasis has shifted to the hagoita market, which became popular from the end of the Edo period, and continues to be a success.
