It became an annual event in Edo and became even more popular.It is a sight to see that samurai families and large merchants would send their retainers and servants to carry safety baskets and long-sleeves, go to Asakusa en masse, buy things at a certain store every year, and on the way home, they would stop by a restaurant to show off their presence. It seems that it was hailed as a privilege.After the Meiji period, New Year's supplies began to be purchased at regular stores, and the old market gradually faded away.Currently, emphasis has shifted to the hagoita market, which became popular from the end of the Edo period, and continues to be a success.
