“Ryushoutei Nishimura” Kuriyoukan Shop where artist, Hirosige has drew this famous shop.

“Ryushoutei Nishimura” located in front of Asakusa Kamiranimonmae is famous for its “Kurimushi Yokan”. It is famous even in Asakusa where has lots of delicious Japanese sweet shops. There are Stewed Yokan and Neri Yokan which uses Kanten. The Stewed Yokan has a long history. After mixing the wheat powder and sweet bean, and then it gets stewed.

Kurimushi Yokan is a Mushi Yokan with Kuri(chestnuts) in it. At the beginning, this shop is a Chaya located in Chayamachi where is in front of Hirokozi Kaminarimonzen. The shop appears in the picture “Raimonzenzu” drew by Utakawa Hirosige.
